Nudge your way to better productivity with NudgeMail

Let’s face it – we all live inside of our e-mail.  Whether we are in front of our computer or on the go, most of us always have a way to check our e-mail.  Task management systems are great ways to stay on track with major projects, but sometimes we just need a quick reminder of our tasks.  That’s where NudgeMail comes in.

I first learned about NudgeMail through John Jantsch’s Duct Tape Marketing blog and immediately liked the idea.  NudgeMail’s concept is very simple.  Send an e-mail with the reminder you want sometime in the future, and NudgeMail will automatically send you an e-mail reminder based on the address to which you sent the e-mail.  Here is a great example.  I had to call a colleague to set up a meeting for next week.  On Thursday night, I sent an e-mail to the address “700AM@NudgeMail.com” with my colleague’s phone number and some questions I wanted to ask him.  At 7 AM yesterday, I received an e-mail from NudgeMail with that information.  NudgeMail also allows you to create a subject indicating when you want the reminder to appear in your inbox.  All instructions are on this page.

I love the concept of NudgeMail.  I use the Pocket Informant calendar and task management system on my phone and iPad, but I try hard to reserve that for my major, on-going projects.  If I have a simple item like a grocery list or calling a friend, putting that type of task in Pocket Informant seems like overkill.  However, I still want to put that information on paper and get it out of my head.  Since I always have access to my e-mail through my phone and iPad, I can send an e-mail through NudgeMail and get my reminder.

NudgeMail is currently in a free beta version.  The company does not have future pricing on its website yet, but it is planning a freemium pricing model with free and paid versions.  This program is worth your time to explore.  NudgeMail could be the tool you need to keep your mind on your work and not on remembering your tasks.
